ACT/ SAT

The ACT & SAT can open doors to new opportunities. The information on this page will help you understand why these tests matter and how they can benefit you. 

Why take the ACT and/or SAT?

  • Increase College Options
    • Many colleges require or recommend test scores as part of applications. It's important to look up what the average ACT score is of a student attending the college you're interested it. 
  • Scholarships & Financial Aid
    • High scores can qualify you for scholarships and merit-based aid. 
  • Show Your Strengths
    • Your tests scores can highlight academic abilities, sometimes balancing out a lower GPA.
  • Prepare for College
    • Taking the tests builds important skills like time management and critical thinking.

When should I take the test? 

  • Junior Year 
    • You will want your scores before applying to colleges. 
    • You can always retake tests your senior year to improve scores. 
*All students will take the ACT at AGHS their junior year. 

Fee Waivers

As a student receiving free lunch, you are eligible for a fee waiver for both of these tests. Please see your counselor to obtain a fee waiver.
