PLEASE NOTE: The following scholarships are only a small percentage of what is available. Research scholarships that are specific to you.
For example: What scholarships are specific to the university or college you want to attend? What do you plan to major in? What is your gender? What is your race? Are you the first to attend college in your family? Do you have a disability?

Unless, otherwise noted, please check scholarship websites for eligibility requirements.

Upcoming Local Scholarship Deadlines

The Clemons Foundation Scholarship (Due February 11)
$1,500-$3,000
  • Application: https://tinyurl.com/clemonsscholarship
  • Criteria:
    • ​Must be well-rounded
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0
    • Has goals to continue in higher education, either in community college or at the university level

Golden LEAF Colleges and Universities Scholarship (Due March 1)
$3,500 per year (renewable for up to four years)

  • Criteria: 
    • Must be a North Carolina resident for tuition purposes and reside in a qualifying rural North Carolina County as identified by the Golden LEAF foundation (Pitt Co. is approved)
    • North Carolina graduating high school senior OR a currently enrolled North Carolina community college transfer student enrolling full-time in the fall at a participating North Carolina public or private college/university
    • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
    • Have a FAFSA EFC that does not exceed the maximum permitted by Golden LEAF
    • Express an intent to return to a rural North Carolina community upon college graduation

The Charles Edward Cathey Masonic Scholarship (Due March 10 to Ms. Lee)
$1,000
  • Application can be found in Student Services with Ms. Lee!
  • Criteria: 
    • ​Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
    • Factors such as scholastic achievement, participation in extracurricular and civic activities, involvement in the community, and personal recommendations will be taken into consideration
    • Must turn in your completed application, ACT scores, and two letters of recommendation

Riddick Foundation Scholarship (Due March 22)
  • Application: https://www.csascholars.org/eriddick
  • Criteria:
    • ​Must be enrolled or planning to enroll full-time at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
    • Must be a resident of North Carolina
    • Demonstrate financial need
    • Demonstrate academic achievement
    • Demonstrate service through church, community, and school activities
    • Minimum GPA of 2.5

Ayden-Grifton Charger Club Scholarship (Due April 29 to Ms. Lee)
  • Application: https://tinyurl.com/agccscholarship
  • Criteria: 
    • Must be a graduating senior at Ayden-Grifton High School
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0
    • Must have participated in at least one varsity sport, as defined by the NCHSAA, as a sophomore, junior and senior
    • Must have lettered in a sport
    • Must be admitted to a college or university upon graduation 

You need recommendation letters for most scholarships. Please go to "Request Recommendation" tab above to access our Brag Sheet.  Give this to your recommender no later than 2 weeks prior to the due date.

P.S. Don't forget to give teachers and community leaders a thank you note after they write your letter.

​The application is also available at www.fafsa.gov, or you may call 800-4-FedAid (800-433-3243). As the name says, there is no charge to complete this application, and by doing so, you will be considered for all types of federal financial aid. It is important to complete this form as soon as possible beginning in October and definitely before the deadlines published by the college you wish to attend.
